Aims and Projects

Aims of the JSCO

To improve the quality of the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, support and palliative care as well as the follow-up of patients with malignant disorders.

The Society carries out such aims through communication, cooperation and promotion of research concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as contributions to the progress and dissemination of the treatment of cancer, to contribute to the overall advancement of science and the well-being of mankind.

  1. To promote study and research, as well as education and training of oncologists, concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
  2. To facilitate public dissemination of knowledge and education concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Projects of the JSCO

To accomplish the above aims, the Society carries out the following actions:

  1. Holding academic conferences, symposia and lectures.
  2. Communication and cooperation with national and international cancer-related associations and other related academic associations.
  3. Publishing bulletins, articles and books.
  4. Making proposals and giving advice upon request to the Science Council of Japan, the Japan Medical Congress, the Japan Medical Association and public agencies.
  5. Commending excellent achievements.
